Basketball Recap: Trinity Catholic's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Trinity Catholic lost against Wildwood back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Trinity Catholic Celtics took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildwood Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Celtics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Wildcats are ranked 197th).

Wildwood found their leader in freshman Demarius Knight, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Wilson, who posted eight points.

With the defeat, Trinity Catholic broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-7. As for Wildwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Trinity Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Umatilla at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wildwood, they and East Ridge will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. East Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Wildwood likes a good challenge.
