Mt. Vernon and Civic Memorial are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Mt. Vernon Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Civic Memorial Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Civic Memorial is headed out to face a Rams team ready to give their home crowd a win. Mt. Vernon fell just short of Salem by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday.

Mt. Vernon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cale Maurer, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Maurer a new career-high. Another was Ty Pierce, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past St. Louis HomeSchool P 14-1.

Mt. Vernon took their win against Civic Memorial in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1. Will Mt. Vernon repeat their success, or does Civic Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
