Preview: Union City Soaring Eagles vs. East New York Family Academy
The Union City Soaring Eagles and East New York Family Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Union City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Bergen 73-19 at home. The win was just what Union City needed coming off of a 80-48 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, East New York Family Academy entered their tilt with Friendship Collegiate Academy with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. East New York Family Academy took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 77-40 win over Friendship Collegiate Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory East New York Family Academy has posted since December 8, 2023.
Arianna Mercado was her usual excellent self, scoring 36 points along with five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of East New York Family Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amariah Clyne, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Union City now has a winning record of 6-5. As for East New York Family Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
