Basketball Recap: Smoky Mountain Drops Season-High Score on East Henderson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smoky Mountain). They blew past the East Henderson Eagles, posting a 70-42 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Smoky Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaliyah Voss led the charge by going 6-for-11 on her way to 17 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Voss' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kailey Broom, who posted 13 points and six assists.

Voss wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Smoky Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Henderson only racked up seven assists.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madi McCall, who had six points. That's the most points McCall has posted since back in December of 2024. Kassie Everson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Smoky Mountain's record now sits at 9-15. As for East Henderson, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 9-15.

Smoky Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against East Henderson: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
