Basketball Game Preview: Bruce Trojans vs. Palmer Dragons

The Bruce Trojans will square off against the Palmer Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmer took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bruce, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Bruce took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-22 victory over Houlka. The team ran away with 41 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

A'Toria Knox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 15 on her way to 20 points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Laken Corbit, who posted four points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks.

Bruce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Palmer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Ingomar, falling 61-18. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Falcons are ranked 13th).

The victory made it two in a row for Bruce and bumps their season record up to 10-7. As for Palmer, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.

Everything came up roses for Bruce against Palmer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-24 win. Will Bruce repeat their success, or does Palmer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
