Basketball Recap: Gautier Beats East Central for Their Third Straight Win

Gautier waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the East Central Hornets as they made off with a 65-44 victory. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Hornets are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why East Central lost, don't look at Aj Hopkins. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points and four steals. That was a full 61.4% of East Central's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Gautier's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for East Central, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

As of now, neither Gautier nor East Central have any future games scheduled.
