Basketball Game Preview: York Golden Knights vs. Elba Lancers

The York Golden Knights will face off against the Elba Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, York took their contest with ease, bagging a 60-30 victory over Geneseo. The Golden Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Elba put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Wheatland-Chili with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Wildcats are ranked 576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

York has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Elba, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

York came out on top in a nail-biter against Elba in their previous meeting back in January of 2018, sneaking past 45-43. Does York have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elba turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
