Softball Recap: Colorado Falls Short of Floydada in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Colorado can now relate to. They fell just short of the Floydada Whirlwinds by a score of 13-12 on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolves, who until this match were averaging 3.91 runs allowed.

KK Epperson and Aj Goodney did some serious damage despite the final result: Epperson went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Goodney got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Alyssa Wooddell was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Colorado's defeat dropped their record down to 25-8-1. As for Floydada, they are on a roll lately: they've won 23 of their last 26 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Floydada beat Colorado by a score of 6-4 later that day.
