Basketball Recap: Randleman Triumphs

Randleman proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 33) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-63 victory over the R.J. Reynolds Demons. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Demons are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Tyshaun Goldston, who went 7 of 13 en route to 21 points along with six boards and five assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Connor Cassidy was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points.

Despite the loss, R.J. Reynolds still got an impressive performance from Grant Burns, who went 9 of 22 en route to 24 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Miles Broadnax, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Randleman's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for R.J. Reynolds, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Randleman has already played their next match (against Wheatmore), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. R.J. Reynolds will take on Reagan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. R.J. Reynolds is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.
