Basketball Recap: Overton's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of seven wins, Overton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against the Shelton Bulldogs, falling 54-31. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-25 on January 3rd.

Despite the loss, Overton still got an impressive performance from Daisy Ryan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Overton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 46 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Overton's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Shelton, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1.

When Overton and Shelton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Overton will take on Elm Creek and their 11-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Shelton will try to stop Blue Hill's six-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
