The South Lenoir Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Swansboro Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Lenoir has three straight wins, Swansboro has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
South Lenoir came out on top against Southwest Onslow on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run first inning. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Stallions with a sharp 18-6 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Makenzie Herring was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Lyndsey Philyaw was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Swansboro scored first but ultimately less than Dixon in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-3.
Katherine Cahall made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Swansboro's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for South Lenoir, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Swansboro's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Lenoir has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. It's a different story for Swansboro, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain South Lenoir's hitters?
South Lenoir got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 against Swansboro by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
