Softball Recap: St. Cecilia Bluehawks vs. Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Cecilia can now relate to. They fell 16-12 to the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bluehawks of the 13-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Madison Bauer was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Kvols, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs.

Even though they lost, St. Cecilia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Cecilia and nudges their season record down to 26-5. As for Ashland-Greenwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 20-11 record this season.

St. Cecilia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ashland-Greenwood, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Bishop Neumann at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Neumann will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Ashland-Greenwood surely won't give up without a fight.
