Baseball Recap: Holden Takes a Loss

Holden suffered their closest loss since March 29, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Albany Hornets by a score of 8-6. The Rockets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in April of 2019.

Isaiah Fields was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Hutchinson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Holden's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. As for Albany, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holden will take on Varnado at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Holden is facing Varnado at the right time seeing as Varnado is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Albany, they will square off against Pine at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Albany will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
