Soccer Game Preview: Pebblebrook vs. South Gwinnett

Pebblebrook is on a three-game streak of home wins, while South Gwinnett is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Falcons will welcome the Comets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pebblebrook had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the six-goal drubbing they dealt Cass on Thursday. The Falcons blew past the Colonels 7-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Pebblebrook's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Cass are ranked 140th).

Pebblebrook's offense was hitting Cass from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Anthony Hernandez led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, South Gwinnett got the win against Lanier on Thursday by a conclusive 4-1. That's two games straight that South Gwinnett have won by exactly three goals.

Pebblebrook's win bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for South Gwinnett, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9-1.

Pebblebrook beat South Gwinnett by a goal in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, winning 2-1. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
