Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Eagles vs. Heritage Christian Angels

After a string of seven wins, Cornerstone Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell victim to a tough 8-2 loss at the hands of the Heritage Christian Angels. Cornerstone Christian was red-hot at the plate headed into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matches prior) but Heritage Christian's pitchers proved too tough.

Gage Donaldson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Donaldson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with a stolen base and a double.

In other batting news, J.R. Monroe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Even though they lost, Cornerstone Christian didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 14 strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cornerstone Christian fell to 7-1. As for Heritage Christian, they pushed their record up to 6-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
