Softball Recap: Arcadia Firebirds vs. Indian River Indians
After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Arcadia finally came back down to earth on Friday. They came up short against the Indian River Indians, falling 12-2. That makes it the first time this season the Firebirds have let down their home crowd.

Ryann Giddins was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Giddins wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payton Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Arcadia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Indian River, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
