Baseball Recap: Brito Starts off Right with Win over Coral Reef

Brito had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Coral Reef Barracudas with a sharp 10-3 win.

Samuel Castro was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Brito let Noah Nervaez and Raivon Pinder loose on the outfield. Nervaez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Pinder got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Hector Santos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Coral Reef's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brito will host Hialeah Educational Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Coral Reef, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
