Baseball Game Preview: Medford Mustangs vs. Saugus Sachems

Medford hasn't had much luck against Saugus recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Sachems at 4:15 p.m. Medford is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Wednesday, Medford made easy work of Lynn English and carried off an 8-1 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Travers Moodie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Medford got a massive performance out of Jayden Burns, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Burns has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Dave Crohan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Saugus fell victim to Beverly and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 16-0. The Sachems haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Saugus now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Medford, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
