Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. Hoggard Vikings
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Laney Buccaneers can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Hoggard on Friday, falling 43-10. Laney's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Laney's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hampton Roderick, who picked up 183 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Tyjhere Crudup who rushed for 118 yards. Crudup has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Jacob Pace also helped out as he racked up 111 receiving yards.
The critical scores for Hoggard came from Josiah Gillespie and Malakahi West.
Laney's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Hoggard, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Laney does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hoggard will head out on the road to face off against Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
