Softball Recap: Stanwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cascade

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stanwood). They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cascade Bruins on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Jemma Lopez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Reagan Ryan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Stanwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Stanwood's record is now 8-1. As for Cascade, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Stanwood will head out on the road to challenge Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Roughriders will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Cascade, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Glacier Peak at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Grizzlies will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight.
