Basketball Recap: Campus Magnet's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Bayside last Wednesday, Campus Magnet came back down to earth. The Campus Magnet Bulldogs fell just short of the Newtown Pioneers by a score of 37-35 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Pioneers are ranked 332nd).

Campus Magnet's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Newtown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Campus Magnet will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jamaica at 4:30 p.m. on January 31st. Newtown also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Bayside at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th.
