Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Jacksboro's 13th in Last 14 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jacksboro walked away with it. They never let the Millsap Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

Wyatt Gavit was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Lochlan Pardue and Cannon Valenzuela did most of the damage at the plate: Pardue went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Valenzuela went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Pardue has posted since back in February.

Jacksboro is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Millsap, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-12.

Jacksboro will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
