Baseball Game Preview: Friends Select Falcons vs. Germantown Friends

The Friends Select Falcons will challenge Germantown Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Friends Select after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Abington Friends. The loss put an end to the Falcons' undefeated start to the season.

Sam Emerick was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Miles Lesser was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Germantown Friends came up short against Shipley on Thursday, falling 14-4. Germantown Friends hasn't had much luck with Shipley recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Josh Park made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Friends Select fell to 2-1. As for Germantown Friends, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Germantown Friends' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Friends Select hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Germantown Friends, though, as they've only averaged .204. Will they be able to contain Friends Select's hitters?

Friends Select skirted past Germantown Friends 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will Germantown Friends turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
