Baseball Recap: Avenal Buccaneers vs. Tranquillity Tigers
Avenal had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-16 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Tranquillity Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Miguel Paez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Jeremiah Rubio also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Tranquillity, their win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. The game was the first time they have beaten Avenal on their field since April 9, 2019.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avenal will square off against Dos Palos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tranquillity, they will venture away from home to face off against Mendota at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aztecs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
