Football Preview: Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks vs. Norland Vikings        
        
		
             The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks have the luxury  of staying home for another  week and will welcome the Norland Vikings at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  points on average, (Archbishop McCarthy: 7.5, Norland: 18) so any  points scored will be well earned.
 Last Friday, Archbishop McCarthy took their  match at home  with ease, bagging  a  42-12 victory over Somerset Academy - Canyons. Considering the Mavericks have won three games by more than 29  points this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
  Robert Kerns was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 46 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 96 yards and a touchdown while completing 92.9% of his passes.
 He was just one part of a punishing run game: Archbishop McCarthy was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 204  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 198  rushing yards in 13 consecutive  contests  dating back to last season.
 Archbishop McCarthy's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of  David Howard and  Freddie Byard Iii.  Ji'Koi Highsmith was another major factor on D,  picking up  2.5  sacks and making five total tackles (3.0 for loss).
 On Thursday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Norland lost  45-20 to Chaminade-Madonna. The loss was the Vikings' first of the season.
 Archbishop McCarthy pushed their record up to 4-0 with the  win, which was their seventh straight  at home dating back to last season. As for Norland, their defeat  ended  a  six-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 3-1.
