Basketball Recap: Ruby Knight-Paris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Layton Christian Academy over Judge Memorial Catholic

Layton Christian Academy and Judge Memorial Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Layton Christian Academy had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 53-36 to the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs. The Eagles have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Layton Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ruby Knight-Paris, who went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Penelope Arroyo, who posted nine points.

Judge Memorial Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Munah Doe out in front who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elyah Ocampo, who earned eight points and five boards.

Layton Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-11.

Layton Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Judge Memorial Catholic will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Grantsville at 7:30 p.m. on February 24th. One thing working in Grantsville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
