Football Recap: Huntington Raiders vs. Byrd Yellow Jackets
Huntington's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They secured a 34-28 W over the Byrd Yellow Jackets. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 24-20 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Justin Whitaker produced another solid performance throwing for 207 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes, while also rushing for 59 yards on only six carries. Xavier Brown was another key player, rushing for 98 yards on only six carries.
Despite the loss, Byrd had strong showings from Christian Maxie, who rushed for 164 yards and two scores on only 14 carries, and Collin Deere, who rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
