Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Coyotes vs. Wesley Chapel Wildcats

Cypress Creek is 0-10 against Wesley Chapel since February of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Cypress Creek Coyotes will get right back to it and host the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Cypress Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Wednesday, Cypress Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate and fell 70-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (59), the Coyotes still had to take the loss.

Wesley Chapel has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 60-49 to Berkeley Prep back in December of 2024. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Cypress Creek will need focus on slowing down Ethan Hicks, one of several Wesley Chapel players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Hicks' evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sian Morris, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Cypress Creek's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Cypress Creek ended up a good deal behind Wesley Chapel in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, losing 71-54. Can Cypress Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
