Football Game Preview: Brownsboro Bears vs. Center Roughriders

Brownsboro is 0-5 against Center since October of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Roughriders at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Brownsboro came up short against Rusk and fell 28-21. The Bears were down 21-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Although Brownsboro took the loss, they still got scores from Lane Irwin, Aiden Mitchem, and Jack Anderson.

Meanwhile, Center came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Bullard 44-27 on Friday.

Center's win came from a few key players Brownsboro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaysis Villegas, who rushed for 172 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Center's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jeremy Bluford, who rushed for 151 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.

Center was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 428 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bullard only rushed for 155.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Center, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bluford, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Center's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Brownsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
