Baseball Recap: Wellsville Takes a Loss

Wellsville might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Columbiana who claimed the real prize. The Tigers came up short against the Clippers, falling 12-4. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Clippers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Ethan Morris and Landon Ramsey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Morris scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Ramsey went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Morris continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Leland Monte also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Wellsville's loss dropped their record down to 0-3-1. As for Columbiana, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellsville will welcome Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Columbiana, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against David Anderson at 5:00 p.m. The Clippers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
