Baseball Game Preview: Wachusett Regional Mountaineers vs. Leominster Blue Devils

Wachusett Regional hasn't had much luck against Leominster recently, but that could start to change on Sunday. The Mountaineers will welcome the Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Wachusett Regional is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Oakmont Regional an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mountaineers with their most commanding win of the season.

Leominster came out on top against Salem on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Blue Devils blew past the Witches 10-3. Considering the Blue Devils have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leominster is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Wachusett Regional, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Wachusett Regional took their win against Leominster in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
