Baseball Game Preview: Lago Vista Vikings vs. Wimberley Texans

The Lago Vista Vikings will face off against the Wimberley Texans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lago Vista came up short against China Spring on Thursday, falling 8-1.

Meanwhile, everything went Wimberley's way against Glen Rose last Saturday as Wimberley made off with a 9-2 win. The Texans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Ty Thames made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Wimberley is 3-0-1 when Thames posts three or more hits, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaden Hall, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maverick Jacobs, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Lago Vista has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. Wimberley's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-1.
