Baseball Recap: Marianna Comes Up Short

Marianna suffered their closest defeat since April 29, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Sneads Pirates by a score of 5-3. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 10-5.

Jordan Broxton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Bowen Barber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Marianna has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. With the victory, Sneads broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marianna will take on Chipley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sneads, they will square off against Blountstown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sneads will need to watch out since Blountstown has now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
