Floyd County is 7-2 against Carroll County since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Buffaloes will look to defend their home field against the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Floyd County will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, Floyd County beat Martinsville 25-14.

Sam Phillips had a dynamite game, rushing for 93 yards and one score, while also throwing for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes. Another player making a difference was Max Harris, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Carroll County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Friday. They lost 44-19 to Glenvar. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Highlanders are ranked 60th).

Floyd County will have to contain Jaydon Brown as he made an impact in Carroll County's last game. He rushed for 194 yards and a pair of scores, and also caught one touchdown.

Carroll County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Floyd County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Floyd County took their win against Carroll County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 31-6 score. Do the Buffaloes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
