Softball Recap: Central Rockets vs. St. Charles East Fighting Saints
Central had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 13-20 to make it six. They lost 7-0 to the St. Charles East Fighting Saints. The Rockets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Fighting Saints from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for St. Charles East, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season. The result was nothing new for St. Charles East, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For St. Charles East's part, not much got past Kyli Dunn, who gave up just a hit to keep Central off the board. Dunn has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Charles East let Lexi Majkszak and Caleigh Higgins run wild. Majkszak went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Higgins went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Majkszak a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Wolf, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Coming up, Central will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Charles North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Charles East, they are taking a road trip to face off against Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
