Basketball Recap: Springs Valley Blackhawks vs. Barr-Reeve Vikings
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Springs Valley Blackhawks can now relate to. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Springs Valley came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Vikings are ranked 207th).
Leading Barr-Reeve to victory were Ava B Carter and Hannah Bledsoe. B Carter scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Bledsoe scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Bledsoe has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liv Emmons, who scored six points.
Springs Valley's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Barr-Reeve, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season.
Springs Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Barr-Reeve won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Orleans focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
