Basketball Recap: Zoe Whitfield's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rolesville over E.E. Smith

The Rolesville Rams came up short against the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls on Saturday and fell 56-46.

Rolesville's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Whitfield, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Bella-Michele Horton, who put up 12 points.

E.E. Smith was led to victory by Alonnie Baldwin - Muldrow and Azariah Brunson. Baldwin - Muldrow shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and three steals, while Brunson dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Brunson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Madison Fox was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Rolesville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for E.E. Smith, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Rolesville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-44 win against East Wake on the 2nd. As for E.E. Smith, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cape Fear at 6:30 p.m. on the 11th.
