Volleyball Game Preview: Somerset Eagles vs. Tyrone Golden Eagles

The Somerset Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Tyrone Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Somerset fell just short of Bald Eagle Area by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for Somerset in their meetings with Bald Eagle Area: they've now lost three in a row.

Somerset took Bald Eagle Area into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking ten-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 15-5.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elly Fletcher, who had seven digs and two aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Peyton Kaltenbaugh was another key player, getting nine digs.

Meanwhile, Tyrone narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bedford 3-2.

The win didn't come easy: Bedford scored at least eight points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 15-8.

Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 19-5-1. As for Tyrone, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
