Basketball Recap: Mayson Jeppsen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Clearfield

Box Elder won the last time they faced Clearfield and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Box Elder Bees snuck past the Clearfield Falcons with a 57-51 win.

Box Elder's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mayson Jeppsen, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds. Jeppsen's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jantzen Vranes, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 11 points.

Box Elder's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Clearfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Box Elder will face off against Roy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Box Elder is facing Roy at the right time seeing as Roy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Clearfield, they will take on Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Viewmont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Clearfield likes a good challenge.
