Basketball Game Preview: Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions vs. Calvary Christian Academy Eagles

The Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions will head out to challenge the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Immaculata-La Salle has six straight victories, Calvary Christian Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Immaculata-La Salle earned a 49-37 win over Coral Gables. Given the Royal Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Immaculata-La Salle found their leader in sophomore Alexandra Gonzalez Casar, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Gonzalez Casar a new career-high in blocks (four). Candy Cruz was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Ransom Everglades 56-52.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Immaculata-La Salle, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Immaculata-La Salle beat Calvary Christian Academy 42-35 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Immaculata-La Salle since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
