Football Recap: Classical Academy Takes a Loss

Classical Academy saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 26-19 to the Santa Margarita Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Caimans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Eagles are ranked fifth).

Santa Margarita's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madi Lam, who threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.4% of her passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Eagles' leading receiver Avery Finneran was Lam's top target yet again, picking up 57 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Classical Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-8. As for Santa Margarita, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-32 win against Redlands East Valley on the 13th. As for Santa Margarita, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 33-19 loss against Camarillo on the 13th.
