Softball Recap: Menendez Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Menendez had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-0 victory on April 9th.

Ava Christman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rylan Degrande, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Lexie Gottschalk also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Menendez's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for St. Augustine, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Menendez will challenge Clay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. St. Augustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
