Baseball Game Preview: Lake Flyers vs. Rossford Bulldogs

The Lake Flyers are taking a road trip to square off against the Rossford Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rossford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake, who comes in off a win.

Lake came out on top against Woodmore on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Flyers never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Flyers have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Rossford didn't have quite enough to beat Eastwood on Thursday and fell 2-1.

Rossford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Johnson has hit this season.

Lake has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rossford, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything went Lake's way against Rossford in their previous meeting back in April, as Lake made off with a 17-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flyers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
