Basketball Game Preview: East Central Eagles vs. Ogilvie Lions

East Central is 8-2 against Ogilvie since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The East Central Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Ogilvie Lions at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in East Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests.

East Central is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since December 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 77-57 to Deer River. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Warriors are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, Ogilvie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 26th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia], falling 73-48.

East Central's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Ogilvie, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-20.

Everything came up roses for East Central against Ogilvie when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 96-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
