Baseball Recap: Upper Darby's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Upper Darby had lost ten games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-10 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Ridley Raiders 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Royals: when they faced off against the Raiders back in March, they had to take a 5-2 loss.

Pat Callahan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate O'Donnell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

As for Ridley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 29, 2024.

On Ridley's side, Justin Teehan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bobby Doherty, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
