It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gretna can now relate to. They fell just short of the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the SkyHawks recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Gretna couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Skutt Catholic a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 15-5.

Elle Heckenlively paced Gretna's offense, picking up 23 kills. Heckenlively got some help from Maggie Miller and her 35 assists. Lily Zimmerman controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Skutt Catholic to victory were Nikki Ott and Avery White. Ott had 24 digs, while White had 18 kills and 17 digs. Ott is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last five games she's played.

Gretna's defeat dropped their record down to 25-18. As for Skutt Catholic, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 31-9.

Gretna does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Skutt Catholic has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Waverly on the 8th.
