Football Recap: Vicksburg Gators vs. Ridgeland Titans

Vicksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Ridgeland Titans, falling 42-22. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, Vicksburg still got an impressive performance from DeCorey Knight, Jr, who picked up 169 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown. Knight, Jr's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards. Another player making a difference was Jamikal Maxey, who threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.

DK Wallace was his usual excellent self, rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries for Ridgeland. Wallace is becoming a predictor of Ridgeland's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 6-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

Vicksburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Ridgeland, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4.

Vicksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ridgeland has already played their next match, a 34-27 defeat against South Panola on the 15th.
