Softball Game Preview: Biloxi Indians vs. Vancleave Bulldogs

Biloxi hasn't had much luck against Vancleave recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Biloxi Indians will host the Vancleave Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Biloxi will be strutting in after a win while Vancleave will be coming in after a defeat.

Biloxi is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They never let Gautier onto the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won nine in a row.

Kya Gammons looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Aubrey Atchison was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabbie Billings, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Vancleave had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Pearl River Central by a score of 9-8.

Brooklyn Howard put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Howard was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Brenley Hunter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh Hall, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Biloxi might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Vancleave in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Biloxi avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
