Preview: Northwest Texans vs. Abilene Eagles
The Northwest Texans will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Abilene Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
With a playoff game on the line, Northwest rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Tascosa 41-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Northwest, who have now won five matchups by 38 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Saheed Durodoye, who rushed for 245 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathanial Jean, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Abilene came tearing into Friday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 31-21 victory over Ryan.
The critical scores for Abilene came from Bryson Perez, Brayden Henry, and Jackson Howle.
Northwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Abilene, their win bumped their record up to an identical 10-2.
