Basketball Game Preview: Villa Madonna Vikings vs. Bellevue Tigers

Villa Madonna hasn't had much luck against Bellevue recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Villa Madonna Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bellevue Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Bellevue took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Villa Madonna, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Villa Madonna turned things around against Williamstown on Monday. They blew past the Demons, posting a 51-20 victory.

Mary Chadwick and Megan Mahaney were among the main playmakers for Villa Madonna as the former went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and five steals and the latter posted six points and five steals. Chadwick has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Nine, who had nine points and three steals.

Villa Madonna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Bellevue lost 56-30 to St. Henry on Monday. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Bellevue has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Villa Madonna, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-14.
